Join the Science for Policy launch event on 26th October 2022, 14:00-16:00, CEST (UTC+2) and learn more about how scientists can support policymakers.
During this event, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Directorate General Research and Innovation (DG RTD), with the support of the Directorate General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM), will present the Commission Staff Working Document (SWD) and discuss its content and follow-up actions with senior policymakers from the Commission and the Member States, as well as leading representatives from the scientific community.
Drawing on lessons from COVID-19, the JRC’s project on “Strengthening and connecting science-for-policy ecosystems across the EU“, and key insights from the research and practitioner literature, this SWD identifies:
- the rationale behind building capacity of science-for-policy ecosystems, involving both the wider public administration sector and the research and innovation system,
- the challenges encountered at the science and policy interface for better uptake of scientific evidence in policymaking, and
- good practice at the EU and Member States level, along with variable EU instruments/policies in support of Member State’s capacity building in the field of science for policy
This event will be online and opportunities for Q&A will be provided.
