Our governance

A well framed model that combines strategic leadership, operational coordination and independent expertise

Integrating the services, expertise and capabilities of multiple European research infrastructures within a single project, such as ISIDORe, requires a well framed governance model that combines strategic leadership, operational coordination and independent expertise.

Coordinated by ERINHA, ISIDORe relies on a set of complementary governance bodies to ensure transparent decision-making, effective project implementation, and continuous scientific and ethical oversight. Together, these bodies oversee strategy, project activities and ensure that the project remains aligned with its mission to strengthen research for epidemic preparedness and response.

The Governing Board (GB) is made up of representatives from each of the  Research Infrastructures and Networks of the ISIDORe consortium.

The Executive Committee (ExCom) supervises the execution of the action and implements the decisions made by the GB. The ExCom is made up of the leaders of each ‘Work Package’ [1] in the project.

The project management team (PMT) monitors project progress and manage the day-to-day functions of the project. It is composed of staff from ERINHA.

The Independent Advisory Board (IAB) is a multi-purpose board with four distinct sections, made up of the appropriate experts to support the project in strategy (StAB), science (SciAB), ethics (EthAB), and security (SecAB). The IAB acts as an interface with the relevant international agencies, initiatives, projects and individual stakeholders.

Strategic Advisory Board

The goal of the Strategic Advisory Board (StAB) is to align ISIDORe’s activities with the priorities of the main actors involved in pandemic management and preparedness, funders, regulatory decision-makers, the pharmaceutical industry, etc. It is made up of representatives of the following organisations:

Scientific Advisory Board

The Scientific Advisory Board (SciAB) has the main mission to provide instructions on the priority research topics to be addressed to improve or extend ISIDORe’s catalogue of services. It is made up of leading experts across the range of areas of scientific research covered by the ISIDORe project.

Ethics Advisory Board

The Ethics Advisory Board (EthAB) will monitor ISIDORe’s compliance with all relevant ethical regulations and standards pertaining to the activities of the project. Itincludes experts in clinical studies, animal welfare, and data protection.

Security Advisory Board

The Security Advisory Board (SecAB) will evaluate the sensitivity of the information contained in project documentation and propose measures for preventing the misuse of such information, as well as the security and dual use concerns potentially raised by the project. It is made of experts in both data and biological security.

[1] A ‘Work Package’ is a defined sub-component of a Horizon Europe project that groups related tasks, deliverables, and milestones under a single work-package leader, with its own budget allocation and timeline.
